If you are a singer or belong to (or intend to belong to) a band we certainly do have plenty of connections and strings we can pull on your behalf in order to get you heard by promoters and get some support slots with more established acts. However, the coaching is more about you doing the work for yourself. I will encourage you to be proactive and help you find the passion and enthusiasm to make your dreams come true. It doesn’t happen overnight or without hard work- but climbing a ladder is fun and rewarding providing it’s against the right wall. Furthermore you should never trust anyone who says that a career in music or performance comes easy!
Would you be turning me into the artist I want to be or the artist you want me to be?
I never impose my personal tastes and the final decisions are always yours. However, should you employ me in this way you wouldn’t be paying me to agree with you all the time either. Mutual respect and teamwork are vital.
Is self esteem coaching really necessary?
The music/ performing arts industries are among the most cut throat on earth. There are no words that begin to describe how much confidence, inner strength and genuine self esteem you will need to survive your journey. This does not mean having the loudest voice or being aggressive- quite the opposite. In fact, defensiveness, aggression and arrogance are dead give aways that someone is not truly comfortable in their own skin. Having self esteem means having a healthy conviction in your own self worth. You will have to cope with sycophantic admiration, vicious comments and apathy all at the same time and maintain your sense of peace. There’s no way I would throw anyone into the hornet’s nest without the skills and tools with which to cope.
Can you make me a popstar/ rockstar?
No but I can show you where to start. If this is what you want then you are going to need expert coaching and guidance and be nothing short of a world class singer and performer. You are also going to need brilliant songs which appeal to your market. And, like it or not, you’ll need an image that makes sense and a savvy business plan. Last but not least you will also need bags and self belief and ambition.
If you are certain that you wish to go down this path then I’ll also be making sure that you’re doing it for the right reasons. The right reasons are because you love music and sharing your gift with other people. The wrong reasons are because you think it will solve all your problems and make people like you.
